Theoretical physicst Cynthia R. McIntyre PhD '90 received the MLK Leadership Award for organizing a national conference for black physics students while a graduate student at MIT. "The conference was a resounding success, and has since become an annual event, held at different universities around the country," [MIT President Charles] Vest said.
Co-founder of the organization National Conference of Black Physics Students. Dr. Cynthia McIntyre is a theoretical physicist whose work has concentrated in the area of condensed matter. Her research focus is on the electronic and optical properties of semiconductor heterostructures. Her current research studies electron-phonon interactions in low dimensional semiconductors.
